Fell In Love With A Phone

Cingular 2125 SmartphoneFell in love with a phone… Fell in love once and I gained completely… It’s in touch with the world…

Yeah, I’m done singing now. That, however, does not disguise the fact that I got a new phone this afternoon and absolutely love it. It’s the new Cingular 2125 Smartphone to the rescue to replace my fast fading I-Mate SP3i. Now don’t get me wrong, the i-mate was a great friend, a longtime companion, but it was out of date and after many falls from my hand to the pavement it was just having hardware issues that I couldn’t get fixed. Perhaps the casing wasn’t strong enough, or I just dropped it the right way or the right number of times, but of late I couldn’t hear people, they couldn’t hear me, the camera was dead and the joystick button on the front had fallen off making it almost impossible to use.

So back to the new phone… What is so special about it. Well for one, it’s sporting the saucy Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System. I had been wanting to try it, and while some of the changes are definitely for the better others I’m not to happy about (changes in the menu layouts for the most part, which could be vendor specific). The cons I have so far are really just a matter of getting used to the new hardware, so therefore not really cons at all. Beyond that, I must say I LOVE the screen. The clarity of text and pictures on it is stunning and I wish I could show you how good it is. I guess I could, look at the express button in the previous article, it looks just as good on my phone as it does on my screen, and I like to think I have a pretty damn good monitor. If that’s not convincing enough, just head down to a Cingular store and look at one in person and you’ll understand what I mean.

Beyond that, my only real complaint about the phone in comparison to the i-mate is the price. Of course when I got the i-mate the prices were basically the same, but I received my i-mate from Microsoft through the Student Ambassador program at no personal charge so therefore the price was just perfect.

Anyways, more reviews to come when I’ve had the phone for a bit longer than a few hours.

    ooooh, shiney reflective bottom!
I wouldn’t mind one of these types of phones myself, if unlimited data plans didn’t cost $50 more each month.
This whole “per kilobyte” thing doesn’t really add up to useful networked apps, which in turn adds up to not selling more of these types of phones and plans.

I’m very proud of my latest phone that simply makes phone calls very well.
      Rarely drops them.
      (Even when I drop it)
It might have a calendar or something too.

Well, before I switched phones I was paying around $55 a month for almost nothing, so switching to this one, with the unlimited media package put me around $60 a month. This being my only phone (no home line) it seems justifyable, and of course I wanted with that nationwide, no-roaming, text messaging, and rollover minutes.
