It’s all about the Benjamins….
Published May 23rd, 2006 in random ramblingsNo longer will the best seats go to the die hard fans. Those that waited in line for 3 days before the box office opens to claim their rightful spot as number one fan. No no, now it goes to the people with the money. In case you missed the article, the NY Times is reporting that Ticketmaster will now begin auctioning off the best tickets to the concerts. As if ticketmaster doesn’t make enough money off of a show, now they want more?
This past weekend I went to see 30 Seconds to Mars at the House of Blues in New Orleans. An awesome show, and by far one of the better concerts I’ve been to in a very long time. The receipt, however, reads like a Mastercard commercial:
Ticket Price: $14
Service Charge: $7
Some faceless vendor getting half the earnings: Priceless
My absolute favorite part is that it is to prevent Ticket Scalping? Ok, so instead of letting others scalp you’ll do it for them. I’d rather give my money to the random guy on the street. He’ll at least let me haggle and I know that if I want to see a sporting event or a concert, Joe Scalper on the street will always have a ticket for me if I really want it. Nevermore….
